Through The Cracks: Carl Pettersson Wins RBC Canadian Open

Somehow I managed to miss this over the weekend: former Wolfpack golfer Carl Pettersson won the RBC Canadian Open on Sunday.

What’s more remarkable is that he barely made the cut. After 36 holes, he cleared the cut line by just one stroke. Saturday, though, Pettersson shot a remarkable 10-under 60–one shot off the PGA Tour record–to vault up the leaderboard and into contention. And with birdies on 11, 13, 14 and 15, Pettersson was able to chase down the tournament leader Dean Wilson and eventually overtake him.

It’s Pettersson’s 4th PGA Tour victory. Whereas Tim Clark (who finished fourth this weekend) perhaps gets more ink than Pettersson because of Clark’s consistency, Pettersson has a 3-victory lead on his fellow Wolfpack golfing mate. I bet when Clark and Pettersson get together for a beer, there are lively debates over who has the upper hand.
